What are High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection?

What is HDCP?

HDCP stands for High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection. HDCP protects digital copyrighted content as it travels from a device to your TV.

What is DRM?

DRM stands for Digital Rights Management. DRM is the use of technology to control and manage access to copyrighted material.

How does Showmax use HDCP and DRM?

Showmax has implemented an HDCP and DRM requirement to protect its copyrighted content.

An HDCP and DRM requirement will be applied to all live channels and events, VoD, and offline content (downloads) provided by external providers such as Hollywood studios.

For Showmax Originals or content owned by a group, we may apply less strict protection rules.

What do I need to watch content with an HDCP and DRM requirement?

You will need hardware compatible with DRM and HDCP to enjoy our content.

For more information, take a look at the DRM and HCDP requirements for your device.
