Subtitles are available in multiple languages for all Showmax content. If you experience issues with subtitles, such as selecting a language but seeing a different one or being unable to turn them on, try the following troubleshooting steps.
Check your subtitle settings
If subtitles are appearing, but look strange, you can update their appearance in Settings within your account. For more information, take a look at Personalise the appearance of Showmax subtitles.
Disable subtitles
If subtitles aren't appearing, or are appearing in the wrong language, try switching off subtitles and switching them on again, ensuring you're selecting the correct language.
Play other titles
If subtitles are working correctly for one piece of content, try playing other titles. If they appear correctly, chances are there is an issue with that asset. Please Contact Us, and we will report it to our technical teams.
Check the Showmax Service Status page
If the subtitle issue is affecting other Showmax content, we may be experiencing a service issue. Check our Service Status page; if a known widespread issue affects sound, we'll post it there.
Restart your device
Sometimes a simple device restart can resolve a variety of issues.

Ensure your Showmax app, Internet browser and device operating system are up to date.
