André de Villiers' 4x4 adventure takes us to the Blouberg in Limpopo. André and his guide, Johan Klopper, explore paths through dust and stones to where huge baobabs make the earth groan.
André shows how your vehicle's wheels can move through sand effortlessly. Moreover, he does this on the spectacular sandbank of the Limpopo River, where South Africa and Zimbabwe meet.
The Soutpansberg's rich history stretches from salt mines to Venda legends. We explore the southwestern part where our 4x4 must know its step before we can enjoy the beautiful view.
After a historical overview of the Hendrik Verwoerd tunnel, we drove on 4x4 sand roads to the mountain top to admire the Pierneef trees. Johan teaches us how to read the sand newspaper.
We visit the forbidden lake and a magical forest in the heart of the old Venda area. After learning more about the legends, we venture up the mamba pass to a special campsite.
We take on the Mamba pass's 4x4 obstacles as Johan wants to show me the Tweeling Dam and the biggest Baobab Tree in South Africa before ending the part of the tour with him.
We set off with a seasoned off-road guide, Johan Kriek, on one of his popular BunduTec safaris. They also gain new and unique insights while visiting a remote Pedi cultural settlement.
To continue their way to the Mafefe 4x4 camp, André and the convoy must cut open thickets. The Mafefe 4x4 camp is located on the African ivory route and is modelled on the Pedi culture.
André is escorted on a route to the Wolkberg area of the Lekgalameetse reserve. He explores the area before starting the descent from the top of the Bushveld to the bottom of the Lowveld.
The 4x4 route André is following brings him to a historic village, dating from the last gold rush, filled with great stories about former pubs, PO Box baobab trees and Paul Kruger.
Our 4x4 adventure runs through the Klein-Letaba River. We visit Soutini, where salt is still being mined in an old traditional way. A field guide teaches us some of the secrets of the field.
For the last part of the series, songwriter and musician, Ruan Jordaan, is our guest. He accompanies us to Botswana where we visit the Thuli Block and have a great time around the campfire.
The series is concluded on a high note in Botswana with great 4x4 off-road driving and a recovery. Ruan Jordaan surprises everyone around the campfire with a song he wrote for Andre4x4.
