Shari heads into Namakwaland and discovers dune-buggies and ‘vaalvleis'. The Sandvelders introduce her to the origins of ‘boeremusiek', and she bumps into travel writer, Toast Coetzer.
Shari dances with Boeta Gammie: the king of the Rieldans. At Papkuilsfontein she learns about sheep farming, and in the Biedouw Valley she meets Mother Earth, who is also big in Japan.
In the Northern Cape Shari visits the pastoral farmers at Nourivier where Oom Bampie plays his 3-string tin violin. She also visits the biggest quiver tree forest in the southern hemisphere.
Shari joins a gang of bearded petrol heads on a journey to Hermanus. She finds out why great whites are disappearing from our seas and enjoys an afternoon in the Hemel and Aarde valley.
Shari takes Errol Arendz on an urban adventure, and discovers one of Jo-Ann Strauss's hidden talents. She also meets Bob: the biggest sea-turtle at the Two Oceans Aquarium.
In Herbertsdale Shari distills witblits with the local mampoer champion. She helps with Gondwana's conservation projects, and meets a musical legend among the aloes.
Shari visits the Great Karoo where she ends up at a drag-show in Steytlerville. She plays bowls in Graaff-Reinet where she also meets the Toerboer for a Karoo-style amazing race.
In the Little Karoo Shari visits her old friend and famous fashion designer, Gert van der Merwe. He shows her around Barrydale where she finds that this little town is full of life.
Shari visit the mountain biking capital of South Africa: The Elgin Valley. Here she finds that you can make gin from apples, and learns more about the honey industry in the area.
In Wellington Shari meets the eccentric characters of the Wellington Wine Walk. En-route she tastes olives, drinks buchu brandy and listens to opera at Diemersfontein's manor house.
Shari visits the first official Afrikaans school and finds that she can understand Flemish. She attends a laughing yoga class with Jak de Priester, and takes her kids to sokkie bootcamp.
Shari attends the King's Plate to support the famous Cape racehorse, Kommetdieding. She enjoys mimosas with Minki, and in Llandudno she finds a deserted WWII military base.
Shari visits one of her favourite getaways near Robertson. She meets the owners of Viljoensdrift where she gets her own nickname and learns that Seagulls don't always fly.
