In the 1800's the free masons moved inland in search of other ways of existence. This lead to tension with the VOC and conflict with indigenous tribes.

After the Anglo Boer War, South Africa was a divided country. With the outbreak of the 1st World War renewed tension started to mount. With Schalk van der Merwe and Lindie Koorts.
We look at the interesting origin and development Afrikaans and the prolonged battle that finally let to it being recognized as a official language in 1925. With Willa Boezak.
In the 1930's white collar workers were the biggest component of the Afrikaner work force, while the first Afrikaans businessmen tried to find their feet in a English business world.
In the late 1930's Afrikaners started to chase economic and political power, and then World War II started - a watershed moment in South African politics.
After the victory of D.F. Malan's National Party in the 1948 election, the party started to enforce its apartheids policy through various laws, including the Immorality Act.
The PAC's protest against Hendrik Verwoerd's hated pass laws lead to the Sharpville incident on 21 March 1960. On 16 December 1961 the first bombs went off.
In 1975 the South African Defense Force invaded Angola in the hope to avoid a Marxist government coming in power in that country. That was the start of the Border War.
