In a high-spirited season premiere, 14-year-old Calvin Richards has the chance to audition for his favourite show, but stage fright and fear of failure get the best of him.
The competition gets off to a quick start when all contestants are tasked with creating a unique way to introduce themselves to the world.
When another contestant tells Calvin that Sydney and Miles are deceitful, he must overcome his suspicions and learn to trust his new friends as well as his own instincts about how to compete.
As the competition heats up, emotions start to boil over. Miles is on edge. Noah loses patience with Calvin. Meanwhile, Reggie and Drea are missing their friends back home.
After weeks of being isolated in the hotel, Calvin spends time with his family. Calvin is paired with Noah during 'Duets Week'. Drea and Reggie take time for themselves.
During 'Folk Music Week', Calvin struggles to connect to music written years before he was born. Reggie tries to teach him the origins of folk music.
Calvin blows up on social media as the press is only interested in him and not the good work of the program. A fight breaks out between Calvin and Sydney.
During 'Mentor Week', Calvin is paired with R&B superstar Will-E, who also came out of the Atlanta music scene.
While Ivy and the remaining contestants prepare, Calvin is back in the hotel room packing. Drea rallies the family to help Calvin cope with being eliminated, but he seems to be numb.
Calvin returns to the stage in this astounding finale. Even though everyone seems to be against him, with his family behind him, nothing is going to stop him from winning.
